The Silverstein Foundation Fellowship Program

Application Instructions

Fellowship details: 2 year program designed to support outstanding research in GBA-PD by providing salaries, opportunities for networking and professional development for postdocs at world-leading medical institutions.

Next year we are going to expand the cohort to include 15 additional fellows. We are looking for postdoctoral candidates interested in working on the following target areas:

• Cell autonomous vs cell non-autonomous mechanisms of GBA-PD
• Understanding determinants of GBA-PD penetrance (onset and progression)
• Biomarker development in GBA-PD (onset and progression)
• Non-motor symptoms of GBA-PD
• Prodromal GBA-PD and factors affecting conversion
• Mechanisms to attenuate progression in humans with GBA-PD.
• Assays of mechanisms underlying specific symptoms of GBA-PD

Additional areas focusing on GBA-PD will also be considered. 

If you are a Primary Investigator with an available fellow and would like them to work on one of the above, send us a proposal based on the following:

Submission Details 

Deadline: February 10th, 2025
Acceptance Letters: April 1st, 2025

Eligibility: Primary Investigators at accredited universities who have postdoctoral candidates.

Application Requirements:

Submit your application to info(at)silversteinfoundation(dot)org. It should consist of:

1. Research Proposal: 2-3 page research proposal detailing:
   • Project title and objectives
   • Methods and timeline
   • Expected outcomes and impact
2. Curriculum Vitae for the fellow

Submission Guidelines:

• All materials must be in PDF format.
• Ensure all documents are clearly labeled with the names of the institution, PI and fellow on each.

Evaluation Criteria:

• Research proposal quality and relevance to GBA-PD
• Fit with program’s objectives and values
